Frequently asked questions.

How do I pay for your services?

I accept private-pay as well as the following insurance plans: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Oscar Health, Optum, Oxford, and United Healthcare. If you are out-of-network, I can provide you with a receipt/superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

I require a credit card on file at least 48 hours prior to your initial appointment, otherwise the initial appointment will be cancelled.

For private-pay, all payments are collected the day prior to the appointment with the credit card on file.

What is your cancellation policy?

Changes to the appointment (cancellations or rescheduling) requires a 48-hour advanced notice, otherwise clients will be charged the full rate of the appointment.

To avoid a charge, Monday appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 48 hours prior on the Thursday preceding.

What are your policies for missed or late appointments?

Missed appointments will be billed at the usual rate with your credit card on file

If you are more than 15 minutes late to an initial appointment or 10 minutes late to a follow-up appointment, it will be considered a missed appointment.

Do you prescribe controlled substances?

I am not currently managing clients who require continuation of controlled substances like stimulants or benzodiazepines. This may change in the future.

I may take clients who desire to taper off of controlled substances.

Do you provide therapy?

My practice primarily focuses on medication management, with very brief psychotherapy within sessions.

Brief psychotherapy modalities can include motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I provide psychoeducation and use active listening.

I will gladly provide referrals for outside therapists.

Can I contact you in between our appointments?

You may email or call between appointments for any questions regarding scheduling, payments, and refills. Communications regarding medical or psychiatric needs may require a separate appointment. Same-day urgent appointments are possible depending on my availability.

Please note that enough medications are prescribed to last until the next appointment. If an appointment is missed, a one-time courtesy refill is given until the new appointment time.

Emails and calls will be returned within 1-3 business days.

If you are having a medical or psychiatric emergency, rather than calling me first, please call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

What if I am having an emergency?

If you are having a psychiatric emergency, such as having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or suicide, please call 911 immediately or go to the nearest emergency room.

Please let me know if have you received emergency services in between our sessions.
